Ambassador Spotlight – October 2014

Ambassador Spotlight – Dianne Stewart, Lowe’s Home Improvement

My name is Dianne Stewart.  I am the Human Resource Manager at Lowe’s Home Improvement.  My primary duties are hiring great talent for the store, employee engagement and being a business partner to the store management team.  I have been everything from store security to reserve deputy for the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department, even worked for the nuclear regulatory commission at Point Beach Nuclear Plant.

I became a Chamber Ambassador in 2012.  I had no idea of what I was getting in to. I get to represent Lowe’s in the community at ribbon cuttings, Business After Hours and the most fun of all, the Reality Store events at the high schools.  I enjoy working on the various committees; event planning and most rewarding the scholarship committee.  Over the past two years, I have had the honor of presenting four well deserving high school graduates with their scholarship from the Chamber; to all who contribute at the various functions – thank you.

People express hesitation about becoming an Ambassador.  There is no reason to be shy about it.  We have a wide variety of personalities on the committee.  Some are outgoing, we have members who like to fund raise, others like to network, me I am more reserved; I like working more behind the scenes.  This year I did step out of my comfort zone and was nominated chairperson for the Ambassador Committee.  The Ambassadors meet once a month to discuss upcoming events, how we can welcome new and embrace tenured members, and it gives us a chance to talk about our businesses as well as new businesses that have come into or plan to open in our area.  Contact Becky at The Chamber, (920) 684-5575, if you are interested in seeing what we are all about.

Thanks for giving me this moment to introduce myself and I hope to see you soon.
