Here is what you missed at our last wellness event:
Our “Reasonable Suspicion in the Workplace” event shared expertise from a panel of experts including Attorney Andy Krajnek from Kaminski & Pozorski, Officer John Bennett from the Manitowoc Police Department, Kathleen Zucchi from Red Arrow Products and Lori Wessel from HFM-Employee Assistance Program. There was a lot of good discussion on policy development, liability, and great questions from our audience members.
In May, our focus is on health and fitness. The Wellness Council of Manitowoc County in partnership with Healthiest Manitowoc County wants you to get your employees moving!!!
On May 21st, Manitowoc County will be celebrating National Employee Health and Fitness Day. On this day, we are encouraging all Manitowoc County companies, large and small to participate in this small initiative that can lead to big changes! This challenge is a fun way to promote a healthy life style by encouraging employees to engage in physical activity. Participants must engage in 30 minutes of physical activity (which does not need to be consecutive). The participating organizations must track the number of employees that participate in the challenge and submit a brief questionnaire after the event to the event coordinator at The Chamber of Manitowoc County. The winning criteria is based on the total percent participation.
To motivate employees to participate, companies can hold activities such as a poker walk, lead an exercise or open up their fitness facility for employees to utilize local fitness equipment. Local locations such as the Manitowoc YMCA and Holy Family Wellness Center will offer use of their facilities for free for all participants. Each company will be provided a certificate of participation. In addition, awards will be given to the companies with the most percent of employees participating in their event.
Lastly, a wellness walk will take place at 5:30 p.m. on the trail along Lake Michigan from Manitowoc to Two Rivers. Bring your families and head on out for some exercise!
What is the goal? The goal is create involvement to make Manitowoc County a healthier community and prepare for our next adventure: to become a Well County.
