Greetings from the Wellness Council! How is everyone adapting to this long winter? Have no fear, Spring will be here soon!
In January, Abigail Nadler from M3 presented on the Affordable Health Care Act and the effect on Wellness Programs. Ms. Nadler discussed some facts on compliance challenges companies may face and how to avoid these challenges. Thank you to Ms. Nadler for a very informative presentation!
As we all know, a great amount of emphasis is placed on wellness and safety together in the workplace and at home. One of the areas receiving focus is ergonomics. Ergonomics is the scientific study of people at work. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the goal of ergonomics is to reduce stress and eliminate injuries and disorders associated with overuse of muscles, bad posture and repeated tasks. Redesign of work spaces, controls, displays, lighting and even tools, many of stresses and risks can be reduced.
Many companies do not have an ergonomic consultant on staff to make these changes. However, there are outside vendors that can help company professionals with this initiative. In March, Encore Unlimited will be presenting at the March Wellness Council event at KI in Manitowoc. Encore will be evaluating some ergonomic challenges in an office setting and a manufacturing setting. Attend the Wellness event and see the solutions!
