YP MONTH: June 2022

The Young Professionals of Manitowoc County (YPs) are pleased to announce three special events to celebrate YP MONTH during the month of June 2022.

YP MONTH is a dedicated month of programming to celebrate young professionals in our community. This annual tradition, hosted in June of each year, specifically looks to target new graduates, interns, and foster excitement among the young professionals in our community. A CONNECT (social), SERVE (volunteering) and GROW (educational) event are all being held.

YP MONTH begins with “Connect at The Wharf” – a networking event, on Tuesday, June 7, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.at The Wharf, 606 Quay St., Manitowoc. Along with networking, attendees will have the opportunity to play bags, participate in fun giveaways and win prizes. A cash bar and complimentary appetizers will also be available.

On Sunday, June 12, the Young Professionals will volunteer at Manitowoc County’s Breakfast on the Farm. There are various shifts available from 7:15am -12:00 p.m. This will be a great way to help give back to the community, and is a family-friendly event. All volunteers that sign up through the Young Professionals will receive a free t-shirt to wear while they volunteer.

The final YP MONTH event will be a Resiliency Training event – “Re-Fuel, Re-Energize, and Beam Up Motivation, Resiliency, and Heal our Collective Trauma” presented by Dana Johnson, MSW, CAPSW. This educational event will be held on Tuesday, June 28 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at Orion Energy Systems, 2210 Woodland Dr., Manitowoc. Attendees will gain an understanding of collective trauma via connection of societal effects of the COVID-19 pandemic; Explore professional burnout to develop strategies to professionally heal and recognize burnout; Improve professional self-reflection to enhance professional resilience in the helping professions; and learn strategies of emotional first aid to improve resilience, reduce burnout, and motivate in the helping professions. The cost to attend the event is $20 per person and includes lunch.

In addition to the educational event, all attendees will have the option to go on an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Orion Energy Systems, following the presentation. The tour is approximately 45 minutes.

Though YP MONTH events are geared towards YPs, they are open to all Chamber members to attend, and not just exclusively Young Professionals.

Young Professionals of Manitowoc County is a committee of The Chamber of Manitowoc County whose mission is to provide opportunities for Young Professionals to connect serve and grow as community leaders.
